Helping You Reach Your World for Good, One Person at a Time.
Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season.
As we begin another year I would like to share with you the heart of our vision.
Imagine this picture. In your driveway sits a brand new Lexus automobile. It was a Christmas gift. Now, you walk out and see it for the first time. You can hardly contain your emotions. It’s beautiful. The car is your favorite color. You open the door, sit down in the drivers’ seat, smell the new leather, and turn on the ignition to go for your first spin. But, nothing happens. No ignition lights, no starter turning, nothing!
You release the hood latch, get out, and go around the car and open the hood. There’s no engine in the car! Now, imagine what you might think as you stand there in disbelief. This car is useless! All it is good for is to sit in your driveway and impress your neighbors and maybe provide a place you can get in out of the rain while working in the yard.
This is the picture of many post modern Christians. They dress nicely, have their Christian jargon down pat, are well groomed, attractive on the outside but they are like a car without an engine. They make a good first impression but without a spiritual engine they won’t go anywhere spiritually.
So what is the engine of the Christian? Discipleship.
In a recent thirty day study another Christian blogger examined the Twitter conversations happening. He discovered over one hundred times as many people in Christian circles talking about mission as they were discipleship. That’s a 100:1 ratio.
The blogger commented, “We are a group of people addicted to and obsessed with the work of the Kingdom, with little to no idea how to be with the King.”
Discipleship is about learning to “be with the King” and that is our calling, to help growing Christians enjoy an intimate relationship with Christ and then pay it forward.
Thanks to those of you investing in this ministry, your gifts not only help people do the work of the Kingdom but helps them “be with the King.” He is the one who provides the direction and power for His mission, and discipleship is His “engine”. Matthew 28:19, 20
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 2 Peter 1:3
